This is the view from the rear seat of the Roadmaster leaving my local DMV. I took advantage of the ride home the new owner was giving me, to ride there for the first time. I’m glad I did, it was fun.
It seems Oppo is losing a couple cool vehicles today, although mine are under much more pleasant circumstances than our friend Luc’s (I wish you the best buddy). I have mixed feelings about it. The rust meant it would have to go sooner or later, and the little voice in my head said it should be sooner rather than later.
I got $100 more than I paid for it, although I unfortunately had to give $95 of that to the State of Illinois because my dumb ass lost the title. I’m very pissed off at myself for that.
Here are the last two pictures I took of the beast. It sure was a fun ride. I have no doubt there will be more B-bodies in my life over the years.
What’s next? I don’t know. But thars some money burning a hole in my pocket ....

There’s always the Estate Wagon... one of the early 70's ones with a clamshell tailgate would be cool! (Or the Pontiac Grand Safari wagon) B-bodies forever!

There’s a local guy with a really nice clamshell Kingswood. That thing is sweeeeeet. I really want to find a clean ‘80-’85 Delta 88 coupe. My mom had a new one when I was a kid, and we both loved it.

I don’t think that’s in my budget. A manual 5 would be fun though. We love our Mazda’s.

What is your budget? I hope it’s better than the Zoidberg budget...

I got $1800 for the Rustmonster. I could probably go to $3k for the right vehicle.

$1800 is what I paid for my Celica, and then later my Tercel. You still need to haul children though right?

I had a ’84 Delta 88 once, but it was a four-door. All brown & chrome. I miss it.

Yes, although soon they’ll both be forward facing, so I can get a two-door as long as there’s room for them both.

Nice. My mom’s was also an ‘84. All blue and chrome. A four/door would make more sense, and they’re a lot easier to find, but the 2-doors like she had just look soooooo good!

Sad to see it go, but glad you got to have some fun with it!
Let me know when you get the new car so I can give you some wieners :)

My Jeep was $2k. Super cheap and easy to work on (especially with the lift). Highly recommend.

It’s definitely a possibility.

Mine was $700.
But it’ll probably be getting close to the $2000-mark once it gets everything needed for a safety inspection. Needs floorpans and rockers at least, plus probably a bunch of fiddlies.
I originally bought it as a donor to manual-swap the MJ, but after driving it the 40 miles home I don’t know if I can chop this one up.

Even better!
Mine needs a few small things, too (HVAC stuck on defrost, so vacuum leak somewhere, small hole near the downstream O2 sensor that’s throwing a CEL, washer bottle fluid level sensor is dead and throwing a light), and floor panels are the only major thing it needs (rockers are surprisingly solid). I have pre-formed ones sitting in my garage, but I haven’t had the time to put them in yet.
$700 is a pretty great price, especially so for a 2-door. Nice find!

Preformed pans and rockers is definitely the way I’d go, but it’ll be a bit before I get around to it. Need to get the Niva back on the road first.

What?
You sold it without telling me?!?!
Kidding aside, congrats man! If you ever want me to peruse the Springfield CL, I’m here (and very bored).

Well, considering I got like 15 times what you offered .... ;)
I may take you up on that actually. When I was in Bloomington-Normal CL things seemed a lot cheaper.

You need reliable, seats 4+child seats and safe, correct?
I would sell my car, as I’m getting a bit bored with it, as much as I like it. I thought about potentially putting it on CL to see if anyone’s interested, so we’ll see.

When would you guess the houses were built that are in these pictures?
Also, you didn’t tell the buyer about the radical hooning you’d done with this ship, did you?

My house was built in 1925 (it’s actually a Sears catalog house). The others were built in roughly the same time frame. The one you see in the first picture is probably even older, it’s built with a balloon frame.
No, of course not :)

Hence the Supra disguised as a Sedan in my name. It’s essentially a 4 door NA Supra. I-6, RWD. A proper automobile.
